Girls Night Out Part 2. Manchester

Welcome back to our Girls Night Out series.  We really hope our last instalment has inspired you to check your diaries and start a new group chat.  Girls nights should be all about having fun and getting dressed up to your best.  This week we are homing in on the jumpsuit and we’re heading north to Manchester to find some funky hotspots for that perfect girls’ night out.  Plus, we’re also featuring tips for cheering up a friend who suddenly decides that Netflix and PJ’s are more appealing than a night out.  After weeks of planning and serious overspending on your outfit, there’s no way you can let her refuse – she is heading out whether she likes it or not! But don’t worry, read our tips on how to coax your friend back into the disco mood without the need for arguments.  Time to party ladies ?

This week we are loving the jumpsuit here at Briahair.  They’re great because they come in a variety of colours and styles, they look super sexy and they can hide a multitude of body sins!  Always a good option for anyone lacking in body confidence.  A jumpsuit is a perfect alternative to a party dress and they look glam with a pair of killer heels and a clutch bag.  Here’s a few of our favourites at the moment;

Of course, now you’ve picked your jumpsuit the million-dollar question remains – how will you do your hair?  Almost any style looks fabulous with a jumpsuit, but we think that having your hair up looks uber cool and shows off your outfit to the maximum.  Take a look at this gorgeous top knot paired with an amazing tuxedo style jumpsuit.

A top knot is fairly easy to style, just arm yourself with lots of bobby pins and hairspray.  Try not to make it look too neat as it can look like you’re off to a job interview rather than a night out!  Pull a few tendrils of hair loose around your face to soften the look and make sure your eyebrows are on fleek as there’s nowhere to hide with an up-do style.

Another option if you think the top knot is too severe for you is the quiff.  They’ve been around for years and still look amazing.  Kim K totally rocks the quiff, the rest of her hair is left lose to soften the look.  To style a quiff, section off the front of your hair and apply a generous blob of styling mousse.  Use your hairdryer to blast the roots and dry in upwards motions with a hairbrush to give it some lift.  Backcomb the hair from behind, smoothing the front with a soft brush, then pin into place with bobby pins.  Use plenty of hairspray to finish the look.

A similar look is the half up half down.  You can add waves to this style or keep it straight, just put some height into the crown area by backcombing before pinning into place.

Okay, your outfit is good.  Check.  Hair styled.  Check.  Make-up perfect.  Check.  Everything is going well until the usual girls’ night disasters suddenly hit.  Yes, someone will most definitely be late.  Someone will cry and someone will undoubtedly lose their phone, usually in the ladies toilet.  But, what happens if one of your besties wants to bail before you’ve even made it to the bar?  It has happened to us all at some point.  Bad day at work, or a row with the other half, even serious bad hair days can deter us from our long-awaited night out.  The thought of getting into our pj’s for the evening and snuggling up on the sofa can be far more alluring than getting ready to go out.  So, if disaster strikes it’s time to put Plan B into speedy action.  Gather your girls and a bottle of something pink and sparkly and head over to your mate’s place.

  •   Avoid saying “cheer up” or “You’ll be fine once you’re out”. Careless words are used all too often and can discourage any good thoughts about joining in on the back burner.
  • Make her laugh.  Laughter is the best medicine.  Tell her cheesy jokes, dig out old photos of bad haircuts and awful wardrobe malfunctions.  Anything to raise a smile.
  • Offer to fix her hair or do her make-up.  Having someone pamper you can make you feel like a million dollars.
  • Pay her compliments.  “She makes the most amazing cheese toasties!” has the nicest effect on people. Give her a hug.  Girls like hugs.

Now that she’s back from the dark side it’s time to hit the town!  Manchester definitely has the cool factor when it comes to choosing a night spot.  Here’s our top three…

1.       The Fitzgerald Classy, sophisticated and a chance for you to go all Great Gatsby and rock some 1920’s vintage glamour into your evening.  The Fitzgerald is a swanky cocktail bar with an atmospheric interior and low sofas, and they serve drinks in decadent glassware.  Located in the Northern Quarter it’s a terribly grown up evening for you and your ladies.

2.       For something a bit different head over to All Star Lanes Manchester  This will be a girls night out with a difference.  Shun those images of tacky bowling alleys with basket food thrown into the bargain.  All Star Lanes promises good food, quirky cocktails and above all, a fantastic night out.  With a distinctly American vibe, a private room for parties and a bar good enough for James Bond, it will be a truly unforgettable night.

3.       A funky night out awaits at Walrus.  A cocktail bar decked out in copper and wood with welcoming booths that can be reserved for your group.  The drinks menu is divine and with an easy to eat menu featuring pizzas and burgers this place is a perfect choice.  After dark, they play host to some of Manchester’s finest DJ’s so you can have a boogie late into the night (remember to take your selfies!)

So, there we have it ladies, part two is now all wrapped up and we hope that it’s inspired you to make those plans and set a date to get your girlies together, it’s been too long.  We love to see your selfies so make sure you end them to us at info@briahair.com and remember to stop by again next week for our third and final part of the series where we concentrate on adding some sparkle to your night.
