London Fashion Week always begins with a bang, and everyone knows that London is well ahead of the fashion game. As always the city bring us innovative, fresh and forward thinking fashion statements, and that also goes for hairstyles. For this year’s Wintery season, warm accessories, big hair and full choppy styles are all the go for this year’s event.
Option One
Plaits have always been in fashion, the thicker & fuller, the more appropriate for the wintery season. Plaits are an all-time classic, and conjures up visions of the old school English Rose, however despite the times, it continues to remain an elegant timeless hairstyle. The plait for this year’s event takes on a slightly more unusual twist, it can begin at the top of the head, or be a combination of multiple plaits, but the fuller and slightly messier, the better.
This hairstyle is meant to scream effortless glam. The best way to style the plait is to ensure the hair is well washed and conditioned, making it easy to work with.
Tip: Flip the hair back and backcomb, then turning the hair back, taking sections, begin to plait accordingly. Don’t be afraid to experiment, you can choose to do numerous plaits or one large one, once completed, tie at the ends. Now this is where the fun begins, take the back of a comb with a sharp edge and tug at the plait, and the top of your hair, until your left with a messy, but chic looking plait, and all that’s left to do now, is finish with hairspray. Wahala.

What better way to feel comfortable and look glam, than accessorize your outfit, with a beautiful fur band. This sophisticated look, perfectly encompasses London’s prestigious beauty. Think Cruella de Vil in her thick furs, and glamorous overcoats. A stylish London heiress, strutting through the city. There is something so classically enchanting about faux fur accessories, and it still maintains its appeal, even today.
The great thing about the fur headband is that, it requires no effort, it can be worn over any type of hairstyle and looks great! Short, long, wavy straight you name it. The fur band is a statement piece that conveys the bold and alluring character of the wearer.
Although the fur band can be purchased in a range of different styles and colours, why not go one step further by bedazzling an ordinary looking one! You can add accessories, such as elaborate jewels, glistening pearls, lace or even ribbons. Don’t be afraid, let your personality do all the decorating!
Tip: If you are really brave , adding jewels will upscale the accessory and make it entirely exclusive. Warm tones work great for winter. Using a glue gun ,or super glue, apply a generous amount to your embroidery of choice, and allow to set for a few minutes, before placing the headband on top of your styled, or naturally tousled hair. Now you’re all set to take on the city of London in the blistering cold.
Option Three
The pixie look, is not only enchanting but fabulously fashionable, as well as being incredibly convenient, easy to style and maintain. You just cannot go wrong with a curly pixie hair do. This magical hairstyle is all in the curls, the more side swept and volume, the better.
This look instantly creates a careless glamour that turns heads. It’s a fresh and modern look that goes well with all hair types. Again this style perfectly sums up London’s innovative, and forward thinking approach to fashion. It’s feminine yet androgynous, and slightly pushes the envelope. If you want to take things one step further, why not dye certain section of the hair, such as the front fringe, to create an electrifying look.
Tip: The best way to style the curly pixie look is to wash, blow-dry, or curl with a curler or straightener, finish by loosening the curls, and once it has been softened, gently backcomb, to add extra volume. Complete with a lathering of hairspray to stay in place.
